Quick guide from the manual
The Bosch GAL 18V6-80 Professional is a multi-bay charger designed for Bosch Li-Ion batteries. It features an intelligent charging process that charges batteries sequentially in two cycles: first to approximately 80% capacity, then to 100%. The charger supports a 'Priority Start' function for individual bays.
Charging process
Batteries are charged one after another in two cycles:
- First cycle: All inserted batteries are charged to approx. 80% capacity.
- Second cycle: Batteries are charged from approx. 80% to 100%. This cycle starts once all inserted batteries have reached the 80% threshold.
If a battery is already charged above 80%, it is skipped in the first cycle and charged in the second. If a new battery with less than 80% charge is inserted during the second cycle, it is charged immediately.
Priority Start (Prio button)
Each charging bay has a Prio button (3) to prioritize charging for that specific bay:
- Press once: Prioritizes charging the battery in that bay to approx. 80%.
- Press twice: Prioritizes charging the battery in that bay to 100%.
LED Indicators
The green LED indicator (4) shows the charge status. Continuously lit LEDs indicate the current capacity, while flashing LEDs indicate the capacity currently being charged. A red LED (5) indicates temperature issues or errors.
Troubleshooting
- Red LED (5) flashes (individual bay): Battery not connected correctly, dirty contacts, or defective battery.
- Six red LEDs (5) flash simultaneously: Internal charger error. Unplug and replug the charger. If the error persists, contact Bosch customer service.
- Indicators do not light up: Check mains connection and voltage.
Installation on an L-BOXX
The charger can be mounted on an L-BOXX for transport using the provided L-BOXX adapter (7) and four screws (8) on the bottom of the charger.
