The Cuisinart Classic 12-Cup Stainless Percolator is designed for brewing coffee using a traditional percolating process. Before first use, wash all parts thoroughly. To brew, fill the percolator with cold water to the desired level, place the basket and pump tube assembly into the unit, add coarse-ground coffee to the basket, and plug the unit into a 120V outlet. Brewing takes approximately 10 minutes. The indicator light will illuminate when the cycle is complete and the unit enters Keep Warm mode.

- Once the indicator light illuminates, the brewing cycle is complete.
- Carefully remove the cover using a mitt or potholder, then remove the basket and pump tube.
- Replace the cover to keep the coffee hot.
Brew Strength Guide
You can adjust the strength of your coffee by varying the amount of coffee grounds used. For 12 cups, use 12 measures for mild, 16 for medium, and 20 for strong coffee. For 10 cups, use 10, 14, or 18 measures respectively. For 8 cups, use 8, 12, or 16 measures. For 6 cups, use 6, 8, or 12 measures. One coffee measure equals one level tablespoon (15 ml).
Cleaning and Maintenance
Always unplug the unit before cleaning. The cover, basket, lid, and pump tube are dishwasher safe (upper rack) or can be washed in warm soapy water. Never immerse the percolator body or power cord in water. Wipe the body with a clean, damp cloth. If coffee grounds get trapped near the washer at the bottom of the pump tube, use a toothpick to loosen them.
Decalcification
To remove calcium deposits, fill the percolator with 2 cups of vinegar and add water up to the 12-cup level. Run the unit through a normal brewing cycle. Discard the mixture and run one cycle of fresh, cold water through the unit before brewing coffee again.
Safety Information
- Do not touch hot surfaces; use handles and knobs.
- Do not immerse the cord, plug, or base in water.
- Never open the top cover during the brewing cycle. If water is not draining, unplug the unit and wait 10 minutes before checking.
- Do not operate the appliance in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet.
- This appliance is for household use only.
