This guide provides essential information for operating your Cuisinart PerfecTemp 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker. Before first use, it is recommended to flush the system with water only (no coffee) to remove any manufacturing dust. Always ensure the charcoal water filter is installed for optimal taste. The unit features a programmable auto-on function, a 1-4 cup setting for smaller batches, and a brew pause feature.

Unpacking Instructions
Place the box on a large, sturdy, flat surface. Remove the instruction book and literature. Turn the box so the back of the coffeemaker is down and slide the unit out. Remove packing inserts and the polybag. Remove the protective label from the digital display before first use.
Control Panel
The control panel allows you to program the clock, set the auto-on time, and adjust brewing preferences:

- Prog/Auto On: Used to program the automatic start time.
- Hour/Minute: Used to set the clock and auto-on times.
- Brew/Off: Turns the unit on and off.
- 1-4 Cup: Improves extraction and temperature when brewing fewer than 5 cups.
- Strength Selector: Choose between Regular or Bold flavor settings.
- Clean: Indicates when it is time to decalcify the unit.
Programming
Setting the Clock: When plugged in, the clock will flash 12:00. Hold the Hour or Minute button to select the desired time. Ensure the PM indicator is on if a PM time is desired.
Setting Auto On: Press and hold the Prog/Auto On button for 2 seconds. The display will flash the default time. Use the Hour/Minute buttons to set the desired start time. Set preferences (1-4 cup, strength) and wait 5 seconds to exit. Press the Prog/Auto On button once to activate; the blue LED will illuminate.
Making Coffee

- Insert the charcoal water filter (see below).
- Fill the water reservoir to the desired level.
- Add a #4 paper filter or the permanent gold-tone filter to the brew basket.
- Add 1 level scoop of ground coffee per cup. Do not exceed 15 tablespoons.
- Ensure the thermal carafe is in position and the top cover is closed.
- Press the Brew/Off button to start brewing.
Charcoal Water Filter
The filter eliminates chlorine, calcium, and bad tastes. To install: soak the filter in cold water for 15 minutes, rinse for 10 seconds, and place it into the holder. Slide the tab to the current month and insert the holder into the water reservoir. Replace the filter every 60 days or 60 uses.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Always unplug the unit before cleaning. The filter basket and carafe are dishwasher safe (upper rack). Wipe the base unit with a damp cloth; never immerse it in water. Decalcification: When the Clean light flashes, calcium buildup is present. Fill the reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Press the Clean button and turn the unit on. When the cycle finishes, run one cycle of fresh, cold water through the unit.
