This service guide covers the maintenance and spare parts replacement for Danfoss AKV 10P and AKV 10PS electric expansion valves. Crucial Warning: Never use AKV 10P0-8 orifice or armature kits for AKV 10PS4-8 models, or vice versa. These parts are not compatible. Always replace wear parts when disassembling the valve.
Spare Parts Replacement
The valve requires specific kits for maintenance, including orifice kits, armature kits, and filter kits. Always replace the orifice when performing maintenance. Ensure that the correct kit is selected for the specific valve model (AKV 10P or AKV 10PS).
Filter Removal and Installation
To replace the filter, use the designated filter removal tool:
- Insert the tool gently into the filter and pull it out.
- Clean the bottom of the valve housing thoroughly before installing a new filter.
- Important: The filter must be installed with the smaller hole/diameter facing downwards first.
Coil Mounting and Dismounting
The guide covers both Standard and UL coil configurations:
- Safety Warning: Never connect the power supply before the coil is fully mounted.
- Ensure the coil is properly seated.
- An O-ring is mandatory for installation.
- An additional O-ring is recommended to reduce vibrations, though it is not required for sealing purposes.

Adhere to the following torque specifications during assembly:
- Armature assembly: 10 Nm (7.4 ft-lbf)
- Orifice assembly: 75 Nm (55 ft-lbf)

Incompatibility between AKV 10P0-8 and AKV 10PS4-8 parts
Never mix orifice or armature kits between these two models. Use only the parts specified for your exact valve type.
Vibration during operation
Install the optional O-ring to reduce vibrations. Note that this is not required for sealing.
Before use
- Verify the valve model (AKV 10P vs AKV 10PS) before selecting spare parts.
- Ensure all wear parts are replaced during any disassembly.
- Clean the valve housing bottom thoroughly before installing a new filter.
- Confirm the coil is mounted before connecting the power supply.
- Check that the filter is oriented with the smaller diameter hole facing down.
