Quick Guide from the Manual

The Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man 1100-TT is an analog delay pedal featuring tap tempo, modulation, an effects loop, and expression pedal control. Important: This unit requires a 9V DC, 200mA power supply with a center negative plug. Do not use batteries. Using the wrong adapter may damage the unit and void the warranty.

Controls and Indicators

The pedal features several knobs to shape your sound:

  • DELAY Knob: Sets delay time from 52 ms to 1100 ms. Turning this knob overrides any previously tapped-in tempo.
  • FEEDBACK Knob: Controls the number of echoes. Maximum clockwise position causes self-oscillation.
  • DEPTH Knob: Sets the amount of modulation applied to the delay time.
  • RATE Knob: Sets the speed of modulation.
  • GAIN Knob: Adjusts input gain from -13dB to +20dB.
  • BLEND Knob: Mixes between dry and wet signals. Full clockwise is 100% wet.

Tap Tempo and Delay Settings

You can set the delay time using the TAP Footswitch. Stomp on the switch twice to set the tempo. The unit will average the tempo if you tap more than twice. The maximum delay time when tapped in is 1.5 seconds. Note that the delay time is always set by the last method used (knob or tap).

Tap Divide Modes: The TAP DIVIDE button allows you to divide the tap tempo into rhythmic subdivisions:

  • Quarter Note / OFF: 1/1 ratio
  • Dotted 8th Note: 3/4 ratio
  • Quarter Note Triplet: 2/3 ratio
  • 8th Note: 1/2 ratio
  • 8th Note Triplet: 1/3 ratio
  • 16th Note: 1/4 ratio

Tap Divide Sequence Mode

This "easter egg" mode automatically cycles through the six tap divide modes at a rate set by the RATE knob:

  1. Tap in a delay time.
  2. Press and hold the TAP DIVIDE button for 2 seconds until LEDs light up.
  3. Turn the RATE knob to change the sequence speed.
  4. To exit, hold the TAP DIVIDE button for 2 seconds or turn the DELAY knob.

I/O and Effects Loop

The pedal includes an effects loop to insert other effects into the feedback path of the delay block:

  • SEND Jack: Connect to the input of your external effects.
  • RETURN Jack: Connect to the output of your external effects.
  • Note: If you do not wish to use the effects loop, leave the RETURN jack disconnected.

Expression Pedal Control

You can control five parameters (BLEND, RATE, DEPTH, FEEDBACK, DELAY) using an expression pedal. Use the EXP. MODE button to select the parameter. The expression pedal must have a Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS) plug. The pedal sweeps from the minimum setting to the current knob position (toe down).

Factory Restore

To restore the original factory settings for Feedback Hold, EXP. MODE, and TAP DIVIDE:

  1. Press and hold the EXP. MODE button while applying power to the unit.
  2. Wait until all 5 expression mode LEDs light up solid.
  3. Release the button.

Practical help

Common problems

Delay time does not change when turning the DELAY knob

If you have tapped in a tempo, the knob setting is ignored. Turn the DELAY knob to override the tap tempo.

Expression pedal is not controlling the desired parameter

Ensure the correct EXP. MODE LED is lit. If no LEDs are illuminated, the expression pedal is disabled.

Modulation speed does not change

Ensure the DEPTH knob is set above the full counter-clockwise position.

Unit does not power on or behaves erratically

Verify you are using the supplied 9V DC, 200mA, center negative power supply. The unit does not support batteries.

Before use

  • Use only the supplied Electro-Harmonix 9.6DC-200BI power supply (9V DC, 200mA, center negative).
  • Do not attempt to use batteries.
  • Connect your instrument to the INPUT jack.
  • Connect your amplifier to the OUTPUT jack.
  • If using an expression pedal, ensure it has a TRS plug.

Specs in practice

Input Impedance
100 kΩ.
Output Impedance
200 Ω.
Control Voltage (CV) Range
0 V to 5 V (TS plug).

Model compatibility

  • Requires 9V DC 200mA center negative power supply.
  • Expression pedal must have a Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS) plug.
  • External tap switch should be normally open.
