To get started with your FreqOut pedal, follow these steps:
- Set the GAIN, ONSET, and TYPE knobs to the 12 o'clock position.
- Set the MOMENTARY switch to OFF and the DRY switch to ON.
- Activate the effect using the EFFECT footswitch. The LED in the center of the LED ladder will light up.
- Play a single note on your guitar; the feedback sustain should be audible.
- Adjust the GAIN and ONSET knobs to achieve the desired feedback amount and onset rate.
- Select the desired harmonic frequency using the TYPE knob.
- If you want to create a swelling effect (similar to an EBow), turn the DRY switch off.
Device Overview
The FreqOut pedal features several controls to shape your feedback:

- Power Input: Requires an external 9V DC power supply. Battery power is not supported.
- Feedback LEDs: The center LED indicates the effect is on. The LED ladder shows the feedback onset rate.
- Effect Footswitch: Toggles the effect on or off. Its behavior depends on the Momentary switch setting.
- Momentary Switch: In ON position, the effect is active only while the footswitch is held. In OFF position, it acts as a standard latching switch.
- Gain & Onset Knobs: Gain controls the feedback intensity. Onset controls the time it takes for the feedback to reach full strength.
- Type Knob: Selects between 7 different harmonic feedback types.
- Dry Switch: Toggles the dry signal on or off while the effect is active.
Harmonic Types
The FreqOut offers 7 distinct harmonic types:
- SUB: Feedback one octave below the note.
- 1ST: Unison feedback (first harmonic).
- 2ND: Second harmonic feedback.
- 3RD: Third harmonic feedback.
- 5TH: Fifth harmonic feedback.
- NAT LOW: Natural feedback in the lower overtone range.
- NAT HIGH: Natural feedback in the higher harmonic range.
Connections and Power
For optimal performance, it is recommended to place the FreqOut at the beginning of your effects chain. This ensures the pedal receives a clean guitar signal to generate feedback overtones correctly. Use only unbalanced TS instrument cables for connections.

Practical help
Common problems
Ensure the effect is activated (center LED is lit) and the GAIN knob is turned up from the minimum position.
Check the DRY switch position. If it is set to OFF, the dry signal is muted.
Verify the MOMENTARY switch setting. If set to ON, the effect only works while the footswitch is held down.
Try adjusting the TYPE knob to a different harmonic setting or use the NAT LOW/NAT HIGH settings for more natural behavior.
Before use
- Ensure you have a compatible 9V DC power supply (battery power is not available).
- Place the pedal at the beginning of your effects chain for best results.
- Use unbalanced TS instrument cables.
- Set GAIN, ONSET, and TYPE knobs to 12 o'clock as a starting point.
- Register your product at digitech.com within 10 days of purchase.
