Quick guide from the manual
The DigiTech Screamin' Blues is an overdrive and distortion pedal designed for guitarists. To begin, ensure your amplifier or mixer volume is turned down. Connect your guitar to the pedal's input, and connect the pedal's output to your amplifier or mixer. Set the pedal's level control to minimum, turn on your amplifier, and then gradually increase the pedal's level to your desired volume.
Device description and controls
The pedal features four main knobs to shape your sound:
- Level Knob: Controls the effect output level. Turn clockwise to increase volume.
- Low Knob: Adjusts the boost or cut of low frequencies.
- High Knob: Adjusts the boost or cut of high frequencies.
- Gain Knob: Controls the amount of distortion.
The pedal also includes an indicator LED. If the LED becomes dim or does not light when cables are connected, the battery needs to be replaced.
Connections and setup
The pedal offers two output options:
- Out 1 (Amp) Jack: Connects to a standard guitar amplifier.
- Out 2 (Mixer) Jack: Features speaker cabinet compensation, allowing you to connect directly to a mixer or recording device without an amplifier.
To prolong battery life, always disconnect all cables from the pedal when not in use, as inserting a cable engages the battery power.
Battery replacement
To replace the 9V battery:
- Use the tip of a 1/4 inch guitar cable to push in one of the release pins on either side of the pedal.
- Remove the pedal from the chassis.
- Disconnect the old battery and connect a new one.
- Ensure the battery cable does not interfere with the spring or pedal switch arm.
- Place the pedal back onto the pins and press down until it clicks into place.
