Important information from the manual
The Hama Safety 150W Car Power Inverter is designed to convert 12V DC vehicle power into AC power. Before use, always verify that the power consumption of your connected device does not exceed the inverter's continuous capacity of 150W. The device includes several protective features such as short circuit, overload, and thermal protection. If the device stops working, check the fuse on the rear of the unit.
Controls and components
Front:

- 1. Green LED (On indicator)
- 2. On/off switch
- 3. AC output (shockproof socket)
Rear:
- 4. DC input (10-15V)
- 5. 20A fuse (time-lag)
Before starting
Before connecting any device, check its power consumption, which is usually specified in Watts (W) or VA on the device label. Ensure this value does not exceed the constant capacity of the inverter. If the inverter is overloaded, it will switch off automatically and can be used again once the overload is removed.
Connection and handling
- Ensure the on/off switch is set to position 0 (off).
- Insert the cigarette lighter plug into the cigarette lighter socket of your vehicle. Ensure the plug is securely in place and the cable is free from strain.
- Switch on the inverter by moving the on/off switch to position I.
Caution: Transfer resistances can cause voltage drops, which may interfere with the function of the device or cause contacts to spark or heat up. Always ensure that the plug and socket contacts are smooth, clean, and fit securely without play.
Protective features and troubleshooting
If the inverter stops working, check the following protective features:
- Residual current protection: Deactivates if there is a residual current of at least 30 mA.
- Short circuit protection: Deactivates automatically if a short circuit occurs.
- Low voltage protection: Deactivates if battery voltage drops to 10.0 V.
- Overvoltage protection: Deactivates if input voltage reaches 15.0 V or more.
- Overload protection: Deactivates if output exceeds 150W for extended periods or pulse load exceeds 375W.
- Heat protection: Deactivates if temperature reaches 60°C or more.
If the inverter does not function after switching it off and on, check the plug-in fuse on the rear of the unit and replace it if necessary. Ensure the input voltage polarity is correct.
Safety measures
- The inverter is intended for use in vehicles only.
- Use only with 12V on-board networks; never use in 24V networks.
- Place the inverter on a flat and stable base.
- Keep the device dry and away from rain or moisture.
- Ensure sufficient ventilation for heat dissipation.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- Do not open the device.
