This document provides instructions for the safe installation and wiring of the Vanguard 125V 15 Amp Connector. Before starting, ensure the power is disconnected. The device must be installed by a qualified person. Use only 16 AWG, 3-wire round jacket copper cord. Always wear ANSI-approved safety goggles during installation.

Wiring Instructions

Follow these steps to prepare and wire the connector:

  1. Preparation: Strip the cord jacket by 1 inch and the individual conductors by 3/8 inch. Twist the strands (do not tin the conductors).
  2. Opening: Separate the connector body and shell. Note that the plug/connector is keyed to the shell.
  3. Wiring Method: Slip the outer shell onto the cord first. Insert conductors into the identified terminal pockets:
    • Green wire: Connect to the green terminal pocket.
    • White wire: Connect to the white terminal pocket.
    • Black wire: Connect to the brass terminal pocket.
  4. Torque Requirements: Tighten terminal screws to 20 inch lb.

Assembly

  1. Align the key on the body with the key in the shell and slip the shell into the front section.
  2. Evenly tighten the assembly screws to 14 inch lb.
  3. Evenly tighten the cord grip screws to 14 inch lb.
