The HiKOKI DS 12DJ (Driver Drill) and DV 12DJ (Combi Drill) are cordless power tools designed for driving screws and drilling into various materials. The DV 12DJ model includes an impact drilling function for brick and concrete. Always ensure the battery is charged before use and the tool is set to the correct mode and speed for your application.
Safety Warnings
- General Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres.
- Electrical Safety: Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions. Use only the specified charger.
- Personal Safety: Wear eye protection. If impact drilling (DV 12DJ), wear ear protectors.
- Battery Safety: Do not short-circuit terminals. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. If the battery leaks or is damaged, stop use immediately.
- Operation: Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces. Do not touch the bit or workpiece immediately after operation as they may be hot.
Battery and Charging
Use only the designated HiKOKI charger (UC12SL) and genuine batteries. To charge, connect the charger to a power outlet and insert the battery. The pilot lamp indicates the status:


- Blinking (1s intervals): Before charging or charging complete.
- Continuous Light: Charging in progress.
- Flickering (0.1s intervals): Malfunction in battery or charger.
- Blinking (1s on/0.5s off): Battery overheated; wait for it to cool.
Operation




- Mode Selection: Use the mode-switching dial to select between drilling, driving, or impact drilling (DV 12DJ only).
- Torque Adjustment: Rotate the clutch dial to set the desired tightening torque. Do not set between numbers.
- Speed Change: Use the shift knob to select High (H) or Low (L) speed. Only change speed when the motor is stopped.
- Rotation Direction: Use the push button to select clockwise (R) or counterclockwise (L) rotation.
- Bit Mounting: Open the keyless chuck, insert the bit, and tighten the sleeve securely.
Maintenance and Inspection
- Tool Inspection: Sharpen or replace dull bits to prevent motor malfunction.
- Cleaning: Wipe the tool with a soft dry cloth or soapy water. Do not use gasoline or paint thinner.
- Storage: Store in a place where the temperature is less than 40°C and out of reach of children.
- Battery Storage: Ensure batteries are fully charged before long-term storage.
Troubleshooting and LED Signals
The tool features a protection circuit. If the LED light blinks, it indicates a safeguard function:
- Overload Protection: LED blinks (0.25s on/off). Adjust to LOW speed or remove the cause of the overload.
- Temperature Protection: LED blinks. Allow the tool and battery to cool.
- Low Voltage Protection: LED blinks. Recharge the battery.

Overload protection triggered. Release the switch and remove the cause of the overload.
Stop using the tool and allow the battery to cool down before resuming.
