Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of the HiKOKI DH 14DSL and DH 18DSL cordless rotary hammers. Always read the full safety warnings before use.

General Power Tool Safety

Follow all safety warnings to prevent electric shock, fire, or serious injury. Keep the work area clean and well-lit, avoid explosive atmospheres, and keep children away. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting the battery.

Cordless Rotary Hammer Safety

  • Wear ear protectors to prevent hearing loss.
  • Use auxiliary handles if supplied.
  • Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when cutting near hidden wiring.
  • Do not touch the drill bit during or immediately after operation as it becomes very hot.
  • Ensure the battery is installed firmly.

Charging the Battery

Before using the tool, charge the battery. Connect the charger to an AC power source or a 12V DC in-car power source. The pilot lamp indicates the charging status: blinking red (before charging), continuous red (charging), blinking red (charging complete), flickering red (malfunction), or green (overheat standby).

Mounting and Operation

The tool supports various operations including rotation + hammering and rotation only. Use the change lever to select the operating mode only when the motor is at a full stop. Adjust the hammering force using the shift knob (Power/Save mode).

Maintenance and Inspection

Always turn off the switch and remove the battery before maintenance. Regularly inspect mounting screws and ensure they are tight. Inspect carbon brushes and replace them when worn to the wear limit. Keep the tool clean and store it in a place where the temperature is less than 40°C.
