This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of the HiKOKI DV 16V Impact Drill. Always read the safety warnings before use.
Description of the device
The DV 16V is an impact drill designed for boring holes in hard materials (concrete, marble, granite, tiles) using combined rotation and impact, or in metal, wood, and plastic using rotation only.
Mounting and operation




- Side handle: Fix and remove as shown in Fig. 1.
- Depth stopper: Use for consistent hole depth (Fig. 2).
- Bit mounting: Mount and dismount bits as shown in Fig. 3. If the keyless chuck cannot be loosened, refer to Fig. 4.
- Rotation direction: Select using the switch (Fig. 5).
- Operating mode: Select between rotation and impact mode using the lever (Fig. 6).
- Switch operation: Use the trigger to start and stop the tool (Fig. 7). Use the lock-on button for continuous operation (Fig. 8).
Maintenance and inspection
- Drill bits: Inspect regularly. Replace or resharpen abraded bits immediately to prevent motor malfunction.
- Mounting screws: Regularly inspect and ensure all screws are properly tightened.
- Motor: Keep the motor winding clean and free from oil or water.
- Carbon brushes: Inspection and replacement must be performed ONLY by a HiKOKI Authorized Service Center.
Safety
Always wear ear protection when impact drilling. Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing operations where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring. Ensure the power source conforms to the product nameplate requirements.

Common problems
Release the trigger immediately, remove the bit from the work, and start again. Do not click the trigger on and off to restart.
Follow the specific dismounting procedure shown in Fig. 4.

- Check that the power source matches the product nameplate
- Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position
- Check that the drill bit is sharp and in good condition
- Ensure the side handle is securely attached
- Verify no electric cables or conduits are in the drilling area
