This document provides installation and maintenance instructions for the Knightsbridge 10AX 2-Way Pull Cord Switch (model 8300XX). It is essential to follow these guidelines to ensure safe operation and compliance with electrical regulations.
Safety information
- This product must be installed in accordance with the latest edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671) and current Building Regulations.
- If in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
- Always isolate the mains power supply prior to installation or maintenance.
- The product is Class II double insulated and has an IP20 rating.
- Do not overload the accessory or subject it to conditions outside its rating.
Installation
- Provide power to the required point of installation.
- If replacing an existing switch, make a note of the connections before removing the existing switch.
- Unscrew the terminal cover.
- The accessory can be mounted onto a round dry lining box or pattress. For surface mounting, use the base plate as a template to mark and drill fixing holes. Ensure you do not infringe on gas/water pipes or electrical cables.
- Fix to a solid surface using suitable fixings.
- Wire the device ensuring correct polarity is observed.
- Check that all connections are tight with no loose strands outside the terminals.
- Refit the cover.
- Switch on and check for correct operation.
Wiring
Refer to the provided wiring diagram for correct connection of one-way and two-way switching. Note that the earth terminal is non-functional and provided for convenience only.
