Important Safety Information
This document provides critical safety instructions for the use, maintenance, and repair of Mafell tools. These tools are intended exclusively for use in original Mafell power tools. Always consult the operating instructions of your specific Mafell power tool to verify compatibility and the materials that can be processed.
- Warning: Risk of injury from sharp blades.
- Tools must only be used by trained and experienced personnel.
- Never exceed the maximum speed stated on the tool.
- Discard circular saw blades if the body is torn or cracked; repair is not permitted.
- Do not use tools with visible cracks.
General Safety and Clamping
Proper installation is vital for safe operation. Ensure the tool is securely clamped to the tool hub or clamping surface so it cannot loosen during operation. Blades must not come into contact with each other or with clamping elements.
- Clamping Surfaces: Must be clean and free of dirt, grease, oil, and water.
- Fastening: Use suitable wrenches and apply the torque specified by the manufacturer. Do not extend wrenches or use striking tools.
- Reducing Rings: The use of loose reducing rings or bushes to reduce bores on circular saw blades is not permitted.
- Fixed Rings: Firmly attached rings (e.g., press-fitted or adhesive-bonded) are permitted if manufactured according to specifications.
Repair and Regrinding
Repair and regrinding must only be performed according to the manufacturer's instructions. Composite tools (with cutting plates) must not have their construction changed during repair.
- Expert Repair: Composite tools must be repaired by a qualified person (e.g., Mafell After Sales Service) who understands the construction requirements and safety levels.
- Spare Parts: Use only spare parts that comply with the manufacturer's specifications for original parts.
- Carbide-Tipped Blades: Do not use carbide-tipped saw blades if the cutting tip thickness has been reduced to less than 1 mm due to resharpening or wear.
- One-Piece Tools: Ensure that regrinding does not weaken the hub or the connection between the blade and the hub.
- MAN Marking: Milling tools marked with MAN must continue to meet manual feed standards after any repair.
Maintenance
Light metal alloys may only be cleaned (deresined) using solvents that do not impair the mechanical properties of the material. Wearing protective gloves is recommended to improve grip and reduce the risk of injury during handling.
Practical help
Common problems
Discard the blade immediately. Repair is not permitted.
Do not continue using the blade; it must be discarded.
Ensure clamping surfaces are clean (free of dirt, grease, oil, water) and that the tool is properly clamped to the hub using the correct torque.
Before use
- Verify the tool is compatible with your specific Mafell power tool.
- Check the tool for any visible cracks.
- Ensure the maximum speed on the tool is not exceeded.
- Clean all clamping surfaces (remove dirt, grease, oil, water).
- Ensure the tool is properly clamped to the hub or clamping surface.
- Use only suitable wrenches for tightening; do not use striking tools.
Model compatibility
- Exclusively for use in original Mafell power tools.
- Do not use loose reducing rings or bushes for circular saw blades.
- Fixed rings (press-fitted or bonded) are permitted if made to manufacturer specifications.
