The Sauter VKR is a 2-way ball valve designed for controlling cold water, warm water, or air in closed circuits. Please observe the following critical conditions:
- Closed Circuits Only: These valves must only be used in closed circuits. In open circuits, high oxygen levels can cause corrosion and damage the valve.
- Dirt Traps: The installation of dirt traps (strainers) is required to prevent contamination (e.g., welding beads, rust particles) from damaging the Teflon seal.
- Insulation: When insulating the system, do not insulate the flange used for mounting the actuator.
- Noise Control: To prevent flow noise in quiet rooms, ensure the pressure difference across the valve does not exceed 50% of the specified values.
Product Description
The VKR series features a 2-way ball valve with a nominal pressure of PN 40. The valve body is made of DZR (Dezincification Resistant) brass, and the ball is chrome-plated polished brass. The spindle is sealed with double EPDM O-rings, which are not replaceable.

Installation
The valve can be mounted in any position, although a hanging position is not recommended to prevent condensate or dripping water from entering the actuator. The actuator connects automatically to the valve spindle via a bayonet fitting. The valve spindle should be in an intermediate position during the initial connection.
Actuator Compatibility
The VKR valve is designed to be used with the following Sauter actuators:

- AKM 105, 115(S): Electric rotary actuators.
- AKF 112, 113(S): Electric rotary actuators with spring return.
The actuator automatically detects the valve's rotation angle, and no further settings are required. For SUT actuators, the characteristic curve can be adjusted to linear or quadratic.
Maintenance
The spindle seals are maintenance-free and cannot be replaced. Ensure the system water quality meets VDI 2035 standards. If using water mixed with glycol, ensure the concentration is between 20% and 50% and verify material compatibility.

Practical help
Common problems
Ensure the pressure difference across the valve does not exceed 50% of the specified values.
Install dirt traps (strainers) upstream to protect the Teflon seal from debris like welding beads or rust.
Avoid hanging installation positions.
Before use
- Verify the system is a closed circuit.
- Install dirt traps.
- Ensure medium temperature is within -10 to 130 °C.
- Check actuator compatibility (AKM/AKF series).
- Verify glycol concentration (if used) is between 20% and 50%.
Images and diagrams
- Dimensional drawings are provided for all DN sizes (15-50).
- Actuator combination tables detail pressure limits (Δpmax, Δps) for specific actuator models.
- Flow characteristic graphs show the relationship between stroke and flow.
Model compatibility
- Compatible with Sauter actuators AKM 105, 115(S) and AKF 112, 113(S).
- Not suitable for open circuits without oxygen binding agents.
- Not suitable for Ex-zones.
