This document provides essential instructions for the Simpson 13SIE-170 electric pressure washer. Before operating, ensure you have read all safety guidelines. The unit requires a 120V, 60Hz, 15-amp dedicated circuit. Always test the GFCI plug before each use. Do not operate the unit without water, and ensure the water supply meets the minimum requirement of 20 psi at 5 gpm.

Assembly
Follow these steps to prepare your pressure washer:

- Handle Installation: Align the grooves in the carry handle with the rails on top of the unit and slide into place until locked.
- Shipping Plug: Remove and discard the shipping plug from the high-pressure outlet on the front of the machine.
- Hose Connections: Connect the high-pressure hose to the machine outlet. Connect your garden hose to the garden hose connector on the front of the machine.
Operation
To start the pressure washer:

- Ensure the spray wand is securely locked into the gun.
- Turn on the water supply fully.
- Plug the GFCI into the power receptacle, press the test button, then press the reset button. The light should illuminate.
- Unlock the gun safety, squeeze the trigger to purge air until water flows steadily.
- Turn the power switch to the ON position.
- Squeeze the trigger to start the motor and begin cleaning. Note that the motor only runs when the trigger is depressed.
Nozzles and Detergent
The unit includes different nozzles for various tasks:
- Yellow (15°): Intense cleaning of small areas.
- Green (25°): Intense cleaning of larger areas.
- Black (Low Pressure): Used for applying cleaning solutions.
- Turbo Spray Nozzle: For the toughest cleaning tasks.
To use detergent, ensure the black nozzle is installed. Fill the on-board detergent tank with approved pressure washer cleaner. The detergent will automatically mix when using the low-pressure black nozzle.
Maintenance and Storage
Regular maintenance ensures longevity:

- Nozzle Cleaning: If the nozzle becomes clogged, remove it and use a stiff wire or paper clip to clear the center hole. Backflush with water.
- Water Filter: Periodically remove and clean the water inlet filter screen to prevent pump damage.
- Storage: After use, drain the detergent tank, run the machine for 5 seconds to clear trapped water, and disconnect all hoses. Store in a dry, climate-controlled environment where temperatures do not fall below 40°F (4°C).

Common problems
Ensure the black low-pressure nozzle is installed. Chemicals will not siphon with other nozzles.
Verify the GFCI plug is reset and the power switch is in the ON position. The motor only runs when the trigger is depressed.
The thermal overload switch may have tripped due to overheating. Allow the motor to cool for 20 minutes.
A small amount of leakage is normal. If excessive, check that all hose and gun connections are tight.
Before use
- Inspect power cord for damage.
- Test GFCI plug (Test/Reset).
- Ensure water supply is 20-100 psi.
- Remove shipping plug from outlet.
- Connect garden hose and high-pressure hose securely.
