This manual provides instructions for the SIP Tempest CW-P series petrol pressure washers (models 160AX, 215AX, 225AX). Before operating, ensure the machine is on a flat surface, check the oil level, and ensure a clean water supply is connected. Always set the lance to low pressure and hold the trigger open when starting the engine to prevent starting against back pressure.
Safety Instructions
- General Safety: Keep the work area clean and clear of clutter. Keep children and untrained personnel away.
- Operation: Do not operate in enclosed areas due to poisonous exhaust fumes. Do not use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Fuel: Petrol is highly flammable. Never refuel while the engine is running or hot. Refuel in a well-ventilated area.
- Water: Only connect to a cold water supply. Never run the machine without water. Do not operate in temperatures below 5°C.
- Personal Protection: Wear CE-approved safety glasses. Keep hands away from the high-pressure water stream.
Assembly Instructions
Fitting the Handle: Slide the handle assembly over the main frame and secure it using the provided bolt, washer, and hand wheel.

Connecting Hose and Lance: Push the lance into the fitting on the pistol and screw to secure. Screw the hose fitting onto the pistol and tighten with a spanner. Connect the other end of the hose to the water outlet on the pump.
Water Supply: Connect your water hose to the quick-release water inlet bayonet on the machine.
Operating Instructions
Engine Oil: The machine is shipped without oil. Use premium quality 10W30 4-stroke engine oil. Check the oil level before each start using the dipstick; it should be between the upper and lower marks.

Starting the Engine:
- Turn the main engine switch to the ON position.
- Move the choke lever to the START position.
- Pull the recoil start handle until it engages, then pull sharply to start.
- Once running, move the choke lever to the RUN position.
- Set the throttle to the rabbit position for maximum pressure.
Stopping: Turn the engine switch to the OFF position, remove the water supply, and press the trigger to release remaining pressure.
Maintenance
- Engine Oil: Change after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or yearly.
- Air Filter: Clean or replace every 50 hours (more often in dusty conditions). Wash the foam element in warm water and mild detergent, dry, and lightly oil with clean engine oil.
- Spark Plug: Clean or replace every 50 hours. Check the gap (0.7 - 0.8mm).
- Storage: Drain all fuel and water from the system before long-term storage. Store in a dry, frost-free environment.
Troubleshooting
If the engine will not start, check for low oil, ensure the switch is ON, and squeeze the trigger while starting to relieve pressure. If the pump fails to build pressure, check for a closed supply tap, blocked inlet filter, or air in the pump. If detergent is not being drawn, ensure the pipe is secure and the lance is set to low pressure.

Practical help
Common problems
Check oil level, ensure engine switch is in the ON position, and squeeze the trigger while starting to relieve pressure.
Check water supply, ensure inlet filter is not blocked, straighten inlet hose, and bleed air from the pump.
Ensure detergent pipe is securely fitted, check for cracks, and ensure the lance is set to low-pressure mode.
Check for worn bearings or air mixed with water in the system.
Before use
- Check engine oil level (10W30).
- Ensure the machine is on a flat, level surface.
- Check for damaged or missing parts.
- Connect a cold water supply.
- Set the lance to low pressure before starting.
- Ensure the fuel tank is filled with unleaded petrol.
