Quick guide from the manual
The Spektrum SPMXSE2525RX is a 2-in-1 brushed electronic speed control (ESC) and SLT receiver combo. It is designed for hobby-grade remote-controlled vehicles. Key operations include binding the receiver to your transmitter, selecting the correct battery type (LiPo or NiMH), and adjusting the drag brake settings.
Components

- A: ON/OFF Switch
- B: Battery connector (+/-), range 5-8.4V
- C: Motor connector (M+/M-), max current 25A
- D: Bind Port
- E: LiPo | NiMH Battery type selection
- F: Running mode selection
- G: LED indicator
Binding Procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is secure with wheels off the ground.
- Insert the bind plug into the bind slot on the ESC/RX.
- Power on the vehicle. The LED will flash rapidly.
- Power on the SLT transmitter to bind. The LED will stay ON when bound. If binding fails, the LED will turn OFF.
- Remove the bind plug before operation.
Drag Brake Settings
The ESC has 5 levels of drag brake settings: 0% (default), 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.
- Power on the ESC and ensure it is in Fwd/Rev mode.
- Remove the F/R jumper cap and plug it back into the same location to increase the drag brake strength by one level.
- The ESC LED blinks to indicate the strength level (1 blink = level 1, 2 blinks = level 2, etc.).
- Leave the jumper cap in position to save the setting once the desired level is achieved.
Alarms and Warnings
Battery Mode
Upon powering on, the ESC indicates the battery mode via beeps:
- 1 beep: NiMH mode (remove jumper to select).
- 2 beeps: LiPo mode (default).
Low Voltage Warning
The receiver features built-in low voltage protection:
- LiPo: If voltage drops below 6.6V, power is cut to 50%. If it drops below 6V, the vehicle stops.
- NiMH: If voltage drops below 5.2V, power is cut to 50%. If it drops below 5V, the vehicle stops.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, check the following:
- No LED lights up: Check battery connections or replace the switch.
- LED OFF: Transmitter is OFF or not bound.
- Vehicle runs backwards: Reverse the throttle channel direction on the transmitter or swap motor wires.
- Vehicle doesn't reach full speed: Check TH D/R setting or battery charge.
- Motor cogging/lockout: Battery discharge capacity may be too low, or gear ratio is too high.
