Quick guide from the manual

The Streetwize 2000W Modified Sine Wave Inverter (SWINV2000) converts 12V DC vehicle battery power into 230V AC. It is intended for use in caravans, campervans, and by tradespeople. Important: This device is not suitable for appliances with AC motors (e.g., refrigerators, heavy-duty power tools, washing machines), medical equipment, laser printers, or fluorescent lights.

Safety Guidelines

  • 12V Only: This inverter is designed exclusively for use with 12V batteries.
  • Ventilation: Ensure at least 5cm (2 inches) of clearance around the unit to prevent overheating.
  • Environment: Keep the unit dry, cool, and away from flammable substances.
  • Electrical Hazard: Never connect the inverter to an AC power source. Do not insert foreign objects into sockets or vents.

Installation and Operation

12V Socket Connection

For appliances requiring less than 150W, you may use the 12V socket connection. Connect the O-rings to the inverter terminals (black to negative, red to positive) and plug into the vehicle's 12V socket.

Direct Battery Connection

For higher power requirements, connect directly to the battery:

  1. Ensure the vehicle is switched off.
  2. Connect the black (negative) cable to the inverter's negative terminal, then to the battery's negative terminal.
  3. Connect the red (positive) cable to the inverter's positive terminal, then to the battery's positive terminal.
  4. Important: Always disconnect the inverter before starting the vehicle engine.

After Use and Battery Protection

To protect your vehicle's battery, we recommend running the engine for 10 to 20 minutes to recharge after using the inverter for 2 to 3 hours. If you hear a beeping sound, the battery voltage is low; disconnect the inverter and recharge the battery.

Troubleshooting and Fuse Replacement

If the unit stops working, check for a red LED or audible beeping. The unit contains 8 x 30 Amp fuses.

To replace fuses:

  1. Loosen and remove the screws on the base of the unit.
  2. Remove the base plate to reveal the internal fuses.
  3. Use tweezers to remove and check/replace the fuses as necessary.

Practical help

Common problems

No AC output, green LED is off

DC input is below 10V. Recharge or replace the battery.

No AC output, inverter is cold

Poor connection with the battery. Switch off the vehicle, disconnect, and check connections.

Inverter shuts down after long use

Overheat. Switch off, disconnect, and allow the unit to cool for 15 minutes.

Inverter shuts down after short use

Overload. The appliance wattage may be too high for the inverter.

Before use

  • Ensure the battery is 12V.
  • Verify the appliance does not have an AC motor (e.g., fridge, power tool).
  • Ensure at least 5cm of clearance around the inverter.
  • Check that the area is dry and free of flammable materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is switched off before connecting.

Specs in practice

Continuous Power
The maximum power the inverter can supply for sustained operation (2000W).
Modified Sine Wave
The type of AC output waveform; not suitable for sensitive electronics or AC motors.
Thermal Shutdown
Safety feature that stops operation if the unit exceeds 60°C.
