Quick Guide
The Walrus Audio Silt is a two-in-one fuzz pedal featuring an internal 12AU7 pre-amp tube. It is designed to provide rich fuzz tones and harmonic overtones. Key operational requirements include a 9V-12V DC, center negative power supply with at least 300mA. The pedal does not need to be placed first in your signal chain.
Controls
- Volume (Vol): Sets the overall output volume of the pedal.
- Tone: A lowpass/highpass tilt control. Clockwise cuts lows and boosts highs; counter-clockwise cuts highs and boosts lows.
- Gain: Controls the input gain into the fuzz circuit, ranging from subtle crunch to full-throttle fuzz.
- Contour: A toggle switch to select between highpass (up), flat (middle), and lowpass (down) curves in the pre-tube EQ stage.
- Harmonic Switch: Activates a frequency doubler before the drive section, producing crispy, octave-like sounds.
Power Information
The pedal requires 9V-12V DC, center negative power with a minimum of 300mA. It is highly recommended to use an isolated power supply. Daisy chain power supplies are not recommended as they may introduce noise or performance issues. Running the pedal at 12V provides an extra gain boost.
Tube Maintenance
If the internal tube fails, it can be replaced. Walrus Audio recommends using a JJ 12AU7 (ECC82) tube.

- Remove the four screws to take off the backplate.
- Grab both ends of the tube’s PCB and gently pull straight up.
- Gently pull the old tube out of the socket.
- Insert the new tube into the socket, ensuring all pins are aligned.
- Connect the tube PCB back to the main PCB, ensuring all 10 pins are lined up (8 pins on the longer side, 2 pins on the shorter side).

Practical help
Common problems
Ensure you are using an isolated power supply. Daisy chain power supplies are not recommended for this pedal.
Follow the tube maintenance procedure in the manual to replace the 12AU7 (ECC82) tube.
Before use
- Verify your power supply is 9V-12V DC, center negative, and provides at least 300mA.
- Use an isolated power supply to prevent noise.
- Ensure the pedal is connected to your signal chain (it does not need to be first).
Specs in practice
