This document provides setup and operational instructions for the Acurite 00782W3 wireless thermometer. Key requirements include using fresh batteries (2 AA for the sensor, 2 AAA for the main unit) and ensuring both units are synchronized within 6 minutes of battery installation. The wireless sensor must be placed outdoors, within 165 feet of the main unit, and away from interference sources like large metal objects or electronic appliances.
Battery Installation
Before using the device, remove the clear protective film from the LCD screen. Always install batteries into the wireless sensor first, then the main unit, within a 6-minute window to ensure proper synchronization.

- Wireless Sensor: Remove the battery compartment cover and insert 2 fresh AA batteries.
- Main Unit: Remove the battery compartment cover and insert 2 fresh AAA batteries.
Note: In temperatures below -4°F (-20°C), use lithium batteries in the outdoor sensor for reliable performance. Do not use rechargeable batteries.
Clock Setup
To set the clock, press and hold the SET button for 5 seconds to enter Clock Set Mode. The setting will blink on the display. Use the + button to adjust the value and press SET to confirm and move to the next setting in this order: 12/24 hour mode, hour, and minute. The device will automatically exit setup mode if no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds.
MIN/MAX Memory
The thermometer records minimum and maximum indoor and outdoor temperatures. Press and release the MIN/MAX button to view the MAX reading, and press again to view the MIN reading. To clear recorded values, press and hold the MIN/MAX button while in the respective MIN or MAX view mode until dashes appear on the display.
Placement
For accurate readings and reliable wireless communication, follow these guidelines:

- Main Unit: Place in a dry area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or vents. It can be wall-mounted using the integrated hang hole or placed on a flat surface.
- Wireless Sensor: Must be placed outdoors. While water-resistant, it should be protected from direct weather elements to extend product life. Place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Troubleshooting
If you experience bad wireless reception or no temperature reading, ensure the units are within 165 feet of each other and at least 3 feet away from electronic devices like TVs, microwaves, or computers. Avoid placing units near large metal surfaces or thick stone walls. If issues persist, remove and re-install batteries in both units to force a re-synchronization, which may take up to 20 minutes.
