This document provides installation instructions for the Alphacool GPX-N 1080Pro-M22 graphics card cooler. Before starting, ensure you have an antistatic mat and appropriate cleaning solvents (e.g., alcohol). The installation requires careful handling of thermal pads and precise screw tightening to ensure proper contact and prevent damage to the graphics card components.
Preparation and dismantling
Place your hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin by dismantling the original cooler from your graphics card. Depending on the cooler structure, remove the screws at the back of the card and carefully unhook the fan connector. If the original cooler uses thermal glue, proceed with extreme caution to avoid damaging components. Clean all hardware surfaces of thermal paste or pad residues using a solvent like alcohol.

Thermal paste and pad application
Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the GPU using a plastic strip or spreader. The layer should be less than one millimeter thick to avoid contaminating surrounding components. Apply the provided thermal pads to the memory modules and voltage transformers as specified in the manual. Ensure all protective films are removed from both sides of the pads before application.

Assembly and mounting
Place the assembled cooler onto the graphics card. If there is a protective film on the cooler base, remove it now. Clean the contact surfaces on the bottom of the cooler. Mount the screws with washers, keeping them slightly loose initially. Install the backplate on the graphics card, applying slight pressure to ensure optimal contact between the backplate, cooler, and graphics card.

Final tightening and maintenance
Screw the cooler together by hand-tightening the screws crosswise with one turn each. Retighten the screws from step 5 that connect the cooler to the board. After approximately 12 hours of use, perform a final check and tighten all screws again.
Safety warnings
- Do not operate cooling components without ensuring coolant is flowing; coolers without coolant can become very hot and cause burns or destroy hardware.
- Do not use tools like wrenches or pliers to tighten connectors; hand-tightening is sufficient. Over-tightening can cause cracks and leaks not covered by warranty.
- Use only connectors with a sealing ring.
- The water pressure in the cooling loop must not exceed 0.8 bar.
- Ensure the pump is functioning immediately upon switching on the hardware.
Practical help
Common problems
Ensure the pump is running immediately upon startup and that coolant is flowing through the system.
Do not use tools to tighten connectors; use hand-tightening only. Ensure connectors have sealing rings.
Ensure thermal pads are correctly placed and protective films are removed. Tighten screws crosswise and re-check after 12 hours of use.
Before use
- Antistatic mat
- Solvent (e.g., alcohol) for cleaning
- Plastic strip or thermal paste spreader
- Screwdriver for mounting screws (do not use on connectors)
- Verify all protective films are removed from thermal pads
Specs in practice
- Max water pressure
- 0.8 bar; do not exceed this pressure in the cooling loop.
- Thermal pad thickness
- Various sizes (0.5mm and 2mm) are provided for specific components; ensure correct thickness is used for memory vs. voltage transformers.
Images and diagrams
- The manual provides specific patterns for cutting thermal pads for the voltage transformers.
- Visual guides show the correct 'footprint' of thermal paste on the GPU for optimal contact.
Model compatibility
- Designed specifically for the Alphacool GPX-N 1080Pro-M22 graphics card cooler.
