Installation
The installation process involves 20 steps. Key procedures include:
- Assembly: Assemble the main frame using the provided screws and washers. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Mounting: Position the carrier on the vehicle according to the specific measurements provided (68 cm spacing).
- Tightening: Tighten screws to a maximum of 1.5 Nm.
- Important Warning: When attaching the fork to the tube (Step 20), do not fully tighten; leave a 2 mm space.
- Safety Check: Do not close the rear door if the lower bar screws are not tightened, as this may damage the vehicle body.
Usage and safety
Follow these guidelines for safe operation:
- Distribute weight evenly, placing the heaviest bikes closest to the vehicle wall.
- Rotate bike handlebars to avoid damage to the vehicle wall.
- Check the rear windscreen wiper radius before operation, as the carrier may interfere with it.
- Bike covers are not allowed on this model.
- If rear lights are obscured, use a light repeater bar.
- The tailgate can be opened when the carrier is mounted, but only without bikes.
Maintenance
Regularly check the bicycle rack to ensure it is firmly attached, especially after the first few kilometers and before/after long trips. Inspect rubber components under the brackets and straps for signs of wear or porosity. Replace worn components immediately.
