This document provides assembly and installation instructions for the Golden Lighting 1140-SF semi-flush ceiling light. Before beginning, ensure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker. The fixture arrives pre-assembled, but requires wiring and final attachment of the glass shade.
Preparation
Before installing the new fixture, ensure the following steps are taken:
- Shut off power: Turn off the electricity at the fuse or circuit breaker.
- Remove old fixture: Carefully remove the existing fixture and the old mounting strap from the wall or ceiling.
- Prepare mounting strap: Attach the mounting strap (B) to the junction box using the provided screws (D).
Wiring
Proper wiring is essential for safety. Use the following guide to identify and connect your wires:

- Hot Wire: Smooth, black, or transparent with black inner thread. Connect to the house Hot wire.
- Neutral Wire: Ribbed, white, or transparent with white inner thread. Connect to the house Neutral wire.
- Ground Wire: Copper, bare metal, green, or transparent with green inner thread. Connect to the house Ground wire or the ground screw (E) on the mounting strap.
Assembly and Installation
Once the wiring is complete, follow these steps to finish the installation:

- Push the canopy (F) up to the ceiling until the mounting screws (A) protrude through the holes.
- Secure the canopy using the decorative nuts (G).
- Install the light bulbs (not provided) into the sockets, ensuring you do not exceed the maximum wattage.
- Attach the washer (J), glass shade (I), and the second washer (J) onto the nipple (H).
- Secure the assembly with the finial (K).
- Turn the power back on and test the fixture.
