This document provides assembly and installation instructions for the Golden Lighting 1142-1W Tessa 1 Light Wall Sconce. The fixture arrives pre-assembled, requiring only mounting and wiring to the junction box. Ensure you have an assistant to support the fixture's weight during installation.

Safety Information

• Important: All installation work should be performed by an accredited professional.
• Shut off the power supply at the fuse or circuit breaker before beginning.
• Use only the specified bulbs and do not exceed the maximum wattage.

Installation Preparation

1. Carefully remove the fixture from the carton and locate the yellow bag containing parts.
2. Remove the old fixture from the wall, including the old mounting strap.
3. Attach the mounting bracket (A) to the junction box using mounting screws (B). Ensure the bracket is level and parallel to the floor.
4. Pull the house wires through the center of the mounting bracket (A).

Wiring Instructions

Refer to the wiring diagram to connect the fixture wires to the power supply wires from the junction box:

• Hot to Hot: Connect the transparent wire with black inner thread, black wire, or smooth wire to the house hot wire.
• Neutral to Neutral: Connect the transparent wire with white inner thread, white wire, or ribbed wire to the house neutral wire.
• Ground to Ground: Connect the transparent wire with green inner thread, green wire, or copper wire to the house ground wire.
• If there is no house ground wire, wrap the fixture's ground wire around the ground screw (E) on the mounting bracket.

Twist the ends of the wire pairs together and secure them with a wire connector, ensuring all twists are in the same direction.

Final Assembly

1. Place the backplate (D) over the mounting bracket (A) and align the holes.
2. Secure the backplate using the small screws (C).
3. Pass the mirror (G) through the nipple (F) and adjust to the desired angle.
4. Secure the mirror (G) using the nut (H) and rubber washer (K).
5. Install the light bulb (not included) into the socket (I) according to specifications.
6. Turn on the power and test the fixture.

Lighting Placement Tips

For optimal lighting in your home, consider the following guidelines:

• Kitchen Islands: Center linear pendants over the island. Use one pendant for every 24 inches of island length. Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the countertop.
• Dining Tables: Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the table. Use a fixture that is 12 inches narrower than the width of the table.
• Open Areas: The bottom of the fixture should hang at least 7.5 feet from the floor. Ensure clearance for any opening doors.
