Quick Guide for Installation

This document provides assembly and wiring instructions for the Golden Lighting 1088-M pendant light. Before beginning, ensure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker. Installation should be performed by an accredited professional. Always verify the maximum wattage allowed for the fixture and use only compatible bulbs.

Preparation

Carefully remove the fixture and the yellow parts bag from the carton. Ensure you have all components before starting. Remove the old fixture and mounting strap from the wall or ceiling. Attach the new mounting strap (A) to the junction box using the provided mounting screws (B). Test the canopy (G) height by threading it onto the canopy loop (H) and adjusting the nipple (F) until the canopy loop collar (I) fits snugly.

Assembling the Fixture

Determine the required hanging height by selecting the appropriate number of rods (L & M). Feed the fixture wires through the rods and connect them. Thread one end of the rod assembly to the small loop (K) and the other to the small loop (P). Secure the small screw (N) to the small loop (P) using the short rod (L). Pull the wires taut. Feed the remaining wire through the chain link (J), canopy loop collar (I), canopy loop (H), canopy (G), and nipple (F). Connect the small loop (K) to the canopy loop (H) using the chain link connector (J). Connect the small ring (P) and the bottom loop (R) using the adjustable ring (Q).

Connecting the Wires

Have an assistant support the fixture's weight during wiring. Connect the fixture wires to the house supply wires using wire connectors. Ensure all twists are in the same direction. If there is no house ground wire, attach the fixture ground wire to the ground screw (E) on the mounting strap. Tuck all wires neatly into the junction box.

Finishing the Installation

Attach the glass (V) to the glass holder (S) and secure it with the decorative ring (W). Raise the canopy (G) to the ceiling and tighten the canopy loop collar (I) onto the canopy loop (H) to secure the fixture. Install the light bulbs (not included) into the socket (U) according to the fixture's specifications. Turn on the power and test.

Lighting Placement Tips

For kitchen islands, center the linear pendant over the island, using one pendant for every 24 inches of island length. Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the countertop. For dining tables, fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the table surface, and the fixture should be 12 inches narrower than the table width. In open areas, the bottom of the fixture should hang at least 7.5 feet from the floor.

Common problems

Fixture wires are difficult to identify

Identify wires by texture: Hot is smooth/black/transparent with black thread; Neutral is ribbed/white/transparent with white thread; Ground is bare/green/transparent with green thread.

Fixture is not hanging at the desired height

Adjust the height of the nipple (F) and canopy loop (H) before final installation. Ensure the canopy loop collar (I) fits snugly.

Before use

  • Turn off power supply at the fuse or circuit breaker.
  • Verify all parts are present in the yellow bag.
  • Ensure the mounting surface can support the fixture weight.
  • Have an assistant available to support the fixture during wiring.
  • Check that you have the correct light bulbs (not included).

Specs in practice

Neutral Wire
Completes the circuit; usually white, ribbed, or transparent with white inner thread.
