Important Safety Information

Before beginning installation, ensure the power supply is shut off at the fuse or circuit breaker. All installation work should be performed by an accredited professional. Use only the specified bulbs and do not exceed the maximum wattage rating.

Preparing for Installation

Carefully remove the fixture from the carton and locate the yellow bag containing all parts. Remove the old fixture from the wall, including the old mounting strap. Select the pair of holes on the mounting strap (B) that matches the spacing of your junction box. Ensure the mounting screws (A) are horizontal and aligned with the holes on the backplate (F). Secure the mounting strap to the junction box using the mounting screws (D).

Connecting the Wires

Have an assistant support the fixture's weight during this process. Connect the fixture wires to the house supply wires using wire connectors, ensuring all twists are in the same direction:

  • Hot: Connect to the house hot wire (black, smooth, or transparent with black inner thread).
  • Neutral: Connect to the house neutral wire (white, ribbed, or transparent with white inner thread).
  • Ground: Connect to the house ground wire (green, copper, or transparent with green inner thread).

If there is no house ground wire, wrap the fixture's ground wire around the ground screw (E) on the mounting bracket and tighten securely.

Finishing the Installation

Place the backplate (F) over the mounting strap (B) so the mounting screws (A) protrude through the front. Thread the deco nuts (I) onto the screws and tighten until the backplate is snug against the wall. Attach the glass shade (J) to the lamp holder (G) through the socket (H) and secure it with the socket ring (K). Install the light bulb and turn the power back on to test the fixture.

Lighting Placement Tips

For optimal lighting, consider the following guidelines:

Recommended installation heights and spacing
Recommended installation heights and spacing
  • Kitchen Islands: Center a linear pendant over the island. Use one pendant for every 24 inches of island length. Hang fixtures at least 30 inches above the countertop.
  • Dining Tables: Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the table. Use a fixture that is 12 inches narrower than the table width.
  • Open Areas: The bottom of the fixture should hang at least 7.5 feet from the floor. Ensure there is clearance for any opening doors.
