Product Overview

The Hinkley 1141OL-CL Casa Large Post Top or Pier Mount Lantern is an outdoor lighting fixture designed for post-top installation. This document provides detailed instructions for both the physical mounting of the fixture body to a post and the necessary electrical wiring procedures.

Safety Information

Warning: Always turn off the power supply before beginning any installation work. If you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring, consult a qualified electrician or local authorities to ensure compliance with building codes. Ensure all wire connectors used for outdoor electrical connections are silicone-filled to maintain a watertight seal.

Installation Procedure

The installation process is divided into two main parts: mounting the fixture body to the post and assembling the glass components.

Post Mounting

  • Drill three pilot holes in the installed post to secure the fixture body.
  • Slide the post fitter of the fixture body over the post and use the holes in the side of the fitter to mark the exact mounting locations.
  • Remove the fixture body and drill 5/32" (4mm) diameter holes at the marked spots.
  • Secure the fixture body to the post using the provided sheet metal screws.

Glass Assembly

It is recommended to install the fixture body on the post before adding the glass. To install the glass:

  • Remove the top loop and spacer from the center stem.
  • Slide the roof and scroll assembly off the center stem.
  • Insert the glass into the fixture, ensuring the small hole at the top of the glass is positioned correctly at the top of the fixture.
  • Replace the roof and scroll assembly, aligning the pins at the bottom of the scrolls with the holes in the top of the uprights.
  • Reinstall the spacer and thread the top loop back onto the center stem to complete the assembly.

Wiring Instructions

For outdoor fixtures, connect the positive supply wire (typically black or smooth) to the positive fixture lead and the negative supply wire (typically white or ribbed) to the negative fixture lead using appropriately sized twist-on connectors. Ensure all connections are protected with silicone sealant. Connect the fixture ground wire to the power supply ground wire inside the post.
