Quick guide from the manual

This luminaire is designed for use with Hinkley-approved 12-volt landscape systems. Connection to other systems may cause premature failure or unintended operation. Ensure the transformer is disconnected from the electrical supply before beginning any installation or service work.

Luminaire Mounting

For typical ground stake mounting, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the transformer from the electrical supply.
  2. Run the wire from the luminaire through the mounting hole in the top of the ground stake.
  3. Attach the luminaire to the ground stake by threading it into the mounting hole until it fits snugly against the bottom of the stem.
  4. Place the stake in the desired position and insert it into the ground until the flange of the stake is flush with the ground.
  5. Strip the two wire leads from the luminaire and connect them to the main supply wire using the provided wirenuts and silicone tube.

Wiring Requirements

The main low voltage cable from the luminaire must be:

  • Protected by routing in close proximity to the luminaire or fitting, or next to a building structure such as a house or deck.
  • Designed for shallow burial (less than 6 inches / 15.2 cm) to connect to the main low voltage cable.
  • Cut to length so that it connects to a connector within 6 inches (15.2 cm) of a building structure, luminaire, or fitting.

LumaCore Assembly & Wattage Adjustment

  1. Take the optic (O) and push it into the top of the engine (E), then twist it into place. Note that the engine optic comes in three types: Flood (60°), Spot (20°), and Medium Spread (40°).
  2. For downward-facing installs, add the spacer ring on top of the LumaCore if no added filters are used.
  3. Hold the LumaCore with the Hinkley logo readable. The rotational switch (A) can be adjusted using your fingers or a small flat-bladed screwdriver. Rotate until the switch stops.
  4. Wattage settings are roughly akin to hours on a standard clock face.
  5. Once the engine is assembled, push it into place inside the enclosure and reassemble the fixture.

Troubleshooting

If flashing occurs, please confirm the voltage at the fixture. You may need to raise the transformer tap voltage or run a lower AWG cable to the fixture to meet the 8VAC minimum requirement.

Confirm voltage at the fixture. Raise the transformer tap voltage or use a lower AWG cable to ensure the fixture receives the minimum 8VAC.

Before use

  • Ensure the transformer is disconnected from the power supply.
  • Verify the system is a Hinkley-approved 12V landscape system.
  • Ensure the wire is routed through the ground stake mounting hole.
  • Check that the optic is properly seated in the engine.
  • Ensure the LumaCore is oriented correctly with the Hinkley logo readable.
