Quick guide from the manual

This document provides installation instructions for the Matchmaster 05MM-WP70/77/78 series wall plates. The primary requirement is that installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or technician. Ensure all power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before starting. The product is designed for 70mm and 90mm wall cavities and requires specific clearance from studs to allow the floating clips to function correctly.

Safety instructions

To prevent fire, electric shock, or injury, adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Installation must be performed by a suitably qualified installer or licensed electrician.
  • All power must be switched off at the circuit breaker or fuse before beginning installation. Test the power is off before continuing.
  • Do not install components during an electrical storm.
  • Do not install in wet locations unless the product is specifically designed for such use.
  • Do not use the product near water, such as bathtubs, washbasins, sinks, or swimming pools.
  • Never touch uninsulated wires or terminals unless the network interface wirings are disconnected.
  • Do not push objects into the product openings, as they may contact dangerous voltages.

Installation procedure

  1. Preparation: Ensure the power is off at the circuit breaker.
  2. Location selection: Choose a wall location free from obstructions like timber frames or metal wall straps. Ensure there is at least 20mm clearance from any stud or trimmer edge to allow the floating clips to rotate freely.
  3. Wall depth: Ensure there is no wall point back-to-back if installing into an internal wall, as this affects available wall depth. The unit is designed for 70mm and 90mm wall cavities.
  4. Cutting: Cut a hole in the wall sheeting using the provided template. Check the wall cavity for obstructions.
  5. Mech installation: Install your chosen compatible mech (Clipsal 2000 fitting) into the back of the wall plate. Terminate cables as needed or run direct cables through the brush or gland opening.
  6. Mounting: Push the wall plate into the cut-out until it is tight against the wall sheeting.
  7. Stabilizing: If the wall sheeting is hard material, mark the stabilizing fins' locations and make minor cuts until the plastic shroud sits firmly against the sheeting.
  8. Securing: Secure the wall plate using the preinstalled floating clips on each side.
  9. Finishing: Connect the WP7x cover.

Technical specifications and spacing

If installing more than one wall plate, ensure they are spaced more than 50mm apart, either vertically or horizontally. The system is compatible with Clipsal 2000 fitting mech inserts.
