This document provides installation instructions for the Scosche GM1583 kit in a 2000-Up Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Before beginning, disconnect the negative battery cable. Ensure you have the necessary tools, including a Phillips screwdriver, Torx drivers (#30 and T15), a panel removal tool, and a 10mm socket/wrench.
Radio Removal and Installation
The factory radio provision is for a GM oversized radio. An installation kit is recommended for aftermarket installations.

- Extract (1) Phillips head screw from the glove box.
- Remove the cylinder cover from around the ignition keyhole.
- Extract (2) Phillips head screws from beneath the steering column plate and remove the cover.
- Remove the fuse access cover and extract (1) Phillips head screw from behind it.
- Adjust the steering wheel column down, remove the dash trim bezel, disconnect the hazard switch, and remove the panel.
Front Door Speaker Installation
The factory speaker provision is for a 6.5-inch 4-hole pincushion driver with a 1.25-inch tweeter. An adapter is required for aftermarket speaker installations.



- Extract (2) #30 Torx screws from the door armrest.
- Remove (3) push-pin style fasteners at the back edge of the door panel.
- Use a panel removal tool to unsnap the door panel, lift away, disconnect, and remove.
- Extract (4) T15 Torx screws from the speaker, disconnect, and remove.
Rear Deck Speaker Installation
The factory speaker provision is for a standard 6x9-inch speaker mounted in a factory adapter. An adapter is required for aftermarket 5.25-inch or 6.5-inch speaker installations.

- Fold both rear seats down and extract (4) 10mm screws from behind the seat cushion.
- Fold the seat up, remove the bottom seat cushion by pressing down on the front and pulling up, then extract (2) 10mm bolts holding the upper seat cushion and remove.
- Use a panel removal tool to extract (3) plastic fasteners holding the front of the rear deck, pull upwards, and remove.
- Extract (4) Phillips head screws from the speaker, disconnect, and remove.
