This product is a 5ft outdoor LED batten light. It is rated IP65, meaning it is protected against dust and water jets. The LED module is non-replaceable. Installation must be performed by a competent and qualified electrician in accordance with IEE Wiring regulations and current Building Regulations.

Safety information

For your safety, always switch off the mains supply before adjusting or cleaning the fitting. This light fitting is Double Insulated and does not require connection to an Earth circuit. The unit gets hot while in operation. If the shade becomes cracked or damaged, the entire light fitting must be discarded as the LED module and control gear cannot be replaced.

Installation

Existing fittings must be completely removed before installing the new product. Carefully note the position of each set of wires before removal.

  1. Decide on the location of the product.
  2. Measure the distance between the mounting bracket location slots and mark the location of the fixing holes on the mounting surface.
  3. Drill holes and fit the supplied wall plugs (suitable for masonry only; use appropriate fixings for other surfaces).
  4. Fix the mounting brackets to the ceiling using the supplied fixings.
  5. Attach the product to the mounting brackets by pushing until securely held.
  6. Wire the unit as detailed in the wiring section.
  7. Replace the fuse or circuit breaker and switch on.

Wiring

Connect the supply wires to the approved outdoor rated or approved double insulated terminal block as follows:

  • Neutral: Connect to the terminal marked BLUE (N).
  • Switched Live: Connect to the terminal marked BROWN (L).

Ensure that you have correctly identified the wires, connections are tight, and no loose strands have been left out of the connection block.

Layout and cables

Plan the layout carefully to ensure cables reach the junction box. Avoid locating cables in positions that would cause a hazard. Cables must be protected using suitable conduit or plastic trunking. The product is fitted with 1.5m of H05RN-F specification cable (outdoor grade, rubber sheathed). The mains supply cable must have a minimum cross-sectional area of 1.0mm².

Maintenance and recycling

Light does not turn on

Check that the fuse or circuit breaker is functional and that the mains supply is switched on.

Shade is cracked or damaged

The light fitting must be discarded as the shade and LED module are non-replaceable.

Loose connections

Ensure all wires are securely tightened in the terminal block and no loose strands are exposed.

Before use

  • Ensure the mains supply is switched off before starting any work.
  • Verify that the mounting surface is suitable for the supplied wall plugs (masonry only).
  • Confirm that a qualified electrician is available for installation.
  • Check that the cable length is sufficient to reach the junction box.
  • Ensure the circuit has a 30mA RCD fitted.
