Important Information
This document outlines the advanced bleeding procedure for Tradequip Telescopic Transmission Lifters. Please note that this process requires two people to safely bleed these units.
Symptoms indicating that there is air in the hydraulic system include:
- No resistance in the pump stroke while raising the load (pedal feels light).
- Most of the down stroke of the pump pedal is taken up, but there is no movement of the Lift Ram.
- The Lift Ram jumps upwards while being pumped up.
- The Lift Ram slowly raises on its own after being fully retracted.
Advanced Bleeding Procedure

- Fill oil to factory specifications.
- Close the breather.
- Tilt the Telescopic Transmission Lifter forward with the pedal facing the ground to just above horizontal and support it with a vehicle stand just below the lower gland.
- Pump the pedal full stroke 3 times. The ram will advance, and the pedal should regain resistance.
- Place the Telescopic Transmission Lifter on its wheels, then re-open the breather and pump to the fully raised position.
- Place the hose clamps on the ram shafts (using the same method as for gland seal replacement).
- Place a drip tray underneath the unit.
- Carefully undo the blue hex gland nut between the two lift rams until the o-ring is exposed.
- Slowly pump the pedal to about half stroke and hold in this position. This will push out the air in the ram until a solid stream of oil comes out.
- When only oil comes out, and while holding the pedal down, wind the gland nut back into position. Once the o-ring is in the shaft, you can release the pump pedal and tighten the gland nut.
