Quick Start Guide

The E-flite Ultra Stick 1.1m is a high-performance RC aircraft. Before your first flight, ensure the transmitter is properly programmed, the battery is fully charged, and the Center of Gravity (CG) is set to 84mm behind the leading edge of the wing. Always perform a range check before flying.

Model Assembly

Horizontal and Vertical Stabilizer: Install the vertical stabilizer from the top of the fuselage. With the fuselage upside down, install the horizontal stabilizer, ensuring the control horn faces up on the side opposite the rudder control horn. Secure with the fiberglass tail wheel bracket, 3mm washers, and M3 nylock nuts.

Landing Gear: Align the landing gear with the holes on the bottom of the fuselage and secure using four M3x12mm screws with lock washers.

Wing Installation: Connect servo leads from the receiver to the wing servos. Align the wing with the wing saddle and secure using the M6 x 30mm nylon thumb screw.

Motor and ESC: Mount the motor to the firewall using M3x10mm screws. Secure the ESC to the mounting tray using the provided hook and loop strap.

Transmitter Setup

The manual provides specific setup steps for Spektrum DX, NX, and iX series transmitters. Key settings include:

  • Dual Rates: Aileron (High 100%, Low 70%), Elevator (High 100%, Low 70%).
  • Throttle Cut: Switch H, Position -100%.
  • Telemetry: Configure Smart Battery startup volts to 4.0V/cell and Smart ESC low voltage alarm to 3.4V/cell.

Binding and SAFE Select

The aircraft features SAFE Select technology. Binding can be performed using the bind button on the receiver or a bind plug. To enable SAFE Select, hold the bind button/plug during the binding process. The control surfaces will cycle twice upon power-up if SAFE Select is enabled, or once if disabled.

Flying Tips

Always fly in a wide-open space away from people and obstacles. Trim the aircraft for level flight at 3/4 throttle. After landing, adjust linkages mechanically to reset trims to neutral. The aircraft features Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC) to protect the battery; if the motor pulses, land immediately.

Troubleshooting

If you experience oscillation, check for loose components, imbalanced propellers, or worn parts. If the aircraft will not bind, ensure the transmitter is not too close to the receiver during the process and that the battery is fully charged.

Practical help

Common problems

Oscillation during flight

Check for loose receiver, imbalanced propeller, or worn parts. Ensure all fasteners are tight.

Aircraft will not bind to transmitter

Move transmitter a few feet away from the aircraft during binding. Ensure the bind plug is installed correctly or the bind button is held long enough.

Motor power pulses or loses power

The ESC has triggered Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC). Recharge the flight battery immediately.

Control surfaces do not move

Check for damaged linkages, loose connections, or ensure the correct model memory is selected on the transmitter.

Before use

  • Ensure transmitter is programmed with correct dual rates and expo.
  • Verify all control surfaces are centered.
  • Check that the Center of Gravity (CG) is at 84mm.
  • Ensure the battery is fully charged.
  • Perform a radio system range check.
  • Verify control surface directions.

Images and diagrams

  • Landing gear installation on the fuselage.
  • Servo installation and wiring routing.
  • Control surface direction verification.
  • Center of Gravity measurement point.

Model compatibility

  • Requires at least a 6-channel full-range transmitter.
  • Recommended battery: 2200mAh 4S 14.8V Smart G2 50C.
